The Body Is Not a Thing
Original short documentary
“The menopausal woman,” writes feminist author Germaine Greer, “is the prisoner of a stereotype and will not be rescued from it until she has begun to tell her own story.”
“The Body Is Not a Thing” is a story about menopause. It’s a film that explores the power of culture to impact our experience of our bodies and how crafting new narratives can heal and free us. Our guides are three women who are questioning the stories they’ve been told about what it means to be an aging woman and finding the tools to shape alternate visions in unlikely places.
This film is currently in production, with support from the Southern Documentary Fund.
